Get two PCs online using the same modem
It's fairly easy to set up, though not the most robust way of sharing a modem between two computers. If you have an old, spare computer (a 386 with 6MB of RAM or more), a 'proper' modem (in other words, not one that only works under Windows) and a modicum of technical savvy, you could set up a Freesco Gateway. This is a free Linux-based package that you can get from www.freesco.org, which works as a highly effective firewall. It also protects your network from unauthorised access via the internet. | |||
